I’m Stephen Baker, a psychoanalytical psychotherapist with over 20 years experience of working in mental health. Initially working with addiction, I trained as a Psychodynamic Counsellor and moved to the NHS. After some years I became interested in analytical thinking and psycho-social models of working and came to Arbours in North London to develop my thinking, and train as a Psychoanalytical Psychotherapist. My experience of working with the Arbours Crisis Centre and other therapeutic communities provided an exceptionally rich clinical experience and informs how I practice today.
I have always been deeply interested in the way our early life experiences shape and affect our thoughts and perceptions. Psychotherapy can be an exploration of our life events and choices. A chance to examine issues that continue to hamper our lives and relationships, even when perhaps thought to be resolved. By identifying and reconciling these underlying issues, we can then improve the likelihood of moving forward with our lives.
I work with adults attending, once, twice or three sessions per week from my consulting room in Marylebone. This is work is open-ended. Please feel free to contact me by email to, steve@bakerpsychotherapy.com or sb7896040@gmail.com. If during the working week I will respond within twenty-four hours.
