Hello. I’m Emily, a warm, friendly and experienced Integrative Therapeutic Counsellor working both in person and online in the Canterbury and East Kent area. I offer both long-term and short-term counselling and have appointments throughout the week, including some evenings. I believe that counselling is a unique and amazing process. I love my job and feel privileged to be able to accompany people on their therapeutic journeys. I can help people manage stress, anxiety, low mood and low self-esteem. I help people explore their identities, get to know, love, accept and value themselves, engage in their interests and have healthy relationships with others.. I support people in making sense of and managing the challenges they may experience within their day to day lives, relationships, families, friendships, social activities, employment, education and commitments, as well as in managing change, transitions, communication, sensory difficulties and emotional issues. I also help people process trauma, abuse and loss. I work with diverse client groups and with most issues, however, I am particularly experienced in working with people who are Neurodivergent (including those who are diagnosed with or who think they may have Autism and/or ADHD), as well as their partners, families and friends. My background is in education and I also offer Specialist Student Counselling at a discounted rate. Furthermore, I am very experienced in offering counselling to professionals from the field of education – including teachers, educators, lecturers and academics and am skilled in working with the unique challenges experienced within this sector. I also am experienced in offering personal therapy to other members of the counselling professions (including counsellors in training) and I have previously worked both as a Counselling Lecturer and also as a line-manager for placement counsellors. I am myself a very creative person, with a degree in Fine Art and a number of creative interests, and I therefore also work very well with artists and with clients from the creative industries. I strongly believe in client autonomy and equality, therefore I will always respect your wishes throughout our work together. Every person I work with is different and the therapeutic journey we embark on together will be unique, for this reason I will always tailor the counselling process to meet your individual needs. Feel free to contact me if you are interested in sessions or would like more information. It will be good to hear from you.
