I am a fully qualified, experienced psychotherapist working with couples and individuals experiencing relationship issues. I have a PG Dip and an MA in Couple & Individual psychodynamic & psychotherapy. I trained at Tavistock Relationships which, since its foundation in 1948, has been a leading internationally recognised institution for couple counselling and psychotherapy. I continue to work at Tavistock Relationships in London as a visiting clinician and assessor, alongside my private practice. I am also an associate at The Practice in East Molesey and a guest speaker at St Mary’s University in Twickenham.
My approach is psychodynamic and aims to bring the unconscious mind into consciousness, making you aware of patterns in your feelings and behaviour and providing insight into your current self. I aim to help people from all backgrounds and walks of life and of all sexual orientations to express their concerns and emotions without feeling judged. Every difficulty is respected and valued for the insight it provides into more profound issues.
I am currently further developing my specialism in Mentalisation-Based Treatment for Couple Therapy. Mentalisation is the capacity to make sense of our actions and feelings and those of others. This specific training, known as MBT- CT, is a form of psychotherapy for those who find that their arguments can get very heated. It can also be a therapeutic intervention for couples where one or both partners find themselves withdrawing from the relationship in sometimes cold and rejecting ways. MBT for couple therapy can help couples to understand their emotional responses better by focusing on the partner’s feelings as well as their own.
If necessary I can offer a brief phone call free of charge. This will allow you to briefly discuss your situation and ask any questions you might have before committing to therapy.
