About

Relationships make the world a much better place – or not. Throughout life we can yearn to be in a relationship or in a dilemma whether to stay, or go. Relationships can also be impacted in many ways by outside influences, planned or otherwise. Counselling can help individuals and couples to clarify thoughts and feelings and, hopefully, find a positive way forward. I am a very experienced Integrative-Relational Psychotherapeutic Counsellor; Couples Counsellor; and Supervisor. For over 10 years, I have experience working as a therapist and/or as a senior clinician for public and private sectors, including: EAPs; Motor Insurance; the NHS and Private Medical Insurance.

Session options

The initial session is not just an information gathering exercise. It is important to get a sense of whether (or not) I am the right counsellor for each client or couple. It is also very important that you feel comfortable with me and that I get a clear idea of your life experience and what you would like to achieve in our sessions together. Individual sessions are usually weekly, lasting 50 minutes and couple sessions last 50-60 minutes. By mutual agreement, we will arrange a day and time which then becomes your personal space for counselling. Short Term, or Brief Focused Therapy, may be agreed for 6, 8, 10, 12 sessions, for example. Open-ended therapy is also mutually agreed from the outset. Consideration is given to clients who are shift-workers, freelancers, or those working abroad. Usually, clients are ready to end when they feel they have achieved the goal/s which have formed the focus of counselling. An ending is always discussed and planned together. If the client has chosen Brief Focused therapy, eg 6 sessions, the ending will be reviewed prior to and mentioned at the penultimate session. If the client has been in open-ended therapy, eg for 18 months, the last sessions may be spaced out eg fortnightly or monthly meetings.

Fee range: Individual counselling: £55 (before 6pm) & £60 (evenings) – duration: 50 mins Couples counselling : £70 (before 6pm) & £75 (evenings) – duration: 50-60 mins I offer reduced rate sessions for students and those on low income (subject to availability).
